![]() The term "Swedish
Massage" actually refers to a variety of techniques
specifically designed to relax muscles by applying a
deeper, slow and long stroke
that follows the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main goal of this style of massage is to "relax to the max" while shortening recovery time from muscular strain and increasing the body's circulation without increasing heart load. The slow, long strokes stretch the ligaments and tendons to help keep them pliable and supple, while stimulating the skin and nervous system in a soothing rhythm. The variety of benefits derived from a Swedish massage session makes it the perfect "regular" program for stress management. 1/2

Canadian
Deep Muscle
![]() I choose Pfrimmer or "Canadian" style deep muscle massage because of its exacting series of cross-fiber movements which elicits muscular restoration by stimulating the circulation and regenerating lymphatic flow thereby promoting detoxification and oxygenation of stagnant muscle tissues. The body's relaxation response is elicited and, instead of tensing when deeper pressure is applied, the muscle slowly relaxes - allowing for the deeper pressure without tissue damage! Developed in the 1940's by therese Pfrimmer, this style of massage led to the total reversal of her own paralysis. This style of massage is great for working out the "kinks", for pre-event sports massage and/or relief of deep fascia tension and inflammation. 1/2

Hot
Stone Bodywork
![]() Offered by top spas
across
the continent, Hot Stone Massage is in a class by itself. A
luxurious & relaxing session, hot stone bodywork combines deep,
thermo therapy with the relaxation techniques of swedish massage to
give the perfect combo treatment.
This session is great for loosening tight muscles, stress relief and tamin all beasts of tension in the body. Invented by a native Arizonian in 1993, the placement of heated rocks on the body relaxes the muscles, providing a way to work more deeply into the body's tissues without using additional pressure. This type of massage is great for poor circulation, osteoarthritis & arthritis pain sufferers, stress reduction, anxiety, tension relief, insomnia and depressioin. Typically, a hot stone treatment is not recommended for people with infectious skin diseases or open wounds, post surgically or if you're prone to blood clots. Pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they're considering this type of massage session. TIP: Don't eat a heavy meal before a hot stone massage treatment. 60 - 80 Minute Session

Hawaiian
Lomi-Lomi Massage
As
you can see, the emphasis of a Lomi Lomi massage is on soothing.
The
session is like a fast-paced tropical dance that glides into a calming
rhythm that gently rocks you into a blissful release of tension.
Lomi Lomi massage, oftentimes called Hawaiian Temple
bodywork, has been practiced throughout the pacifica for thousands of
years as practitioners of this healing art have passed down their
family's techniques. These techniques that are both unique
and specific to gently yet deeply working the body's muscles with
continuous, flowing strokes that both refresh and relax the recipient.Lomi Lomi combines the use of prayer (pule), breath (ha), and energy (mana) to rhythmically release blocked areas of tension in the body. It improves both physical and athletic performance through this unique "massage dance" of the practitioner's thumbs, knuckles, elbows and especially the forearms on the body. Lomi Lomi is useful for maintaining overall health and wellbeing as it relieves pain from injury and/or debilitating illness by relaxing the nervous system and increasing circulation. After reviewing several family styles of lomi lomi, I chose to learn this massage "long-distance", from training videos created by Tamara Mondragon, a student who was taught in-person from native Hawaiian healer and master teacher Auntie Margaret Machado. ![]() Auntie Margaret left
our earthly realm on December 28th at home with her ohana.
She will always be remembered with love. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Basic Body Session ... $60 ![]() Shiatsu, which means
"finger pressure" is an Oriental technique applied to the trigger
points of the body to alleviate built-up tension and pain associated
with poor posture, static position jobs, impinged nerves and tightly
restricted fascia.
Because I do "integrative" bodywork, I often incorporate Shiatsu (at no additional cost) as part of a massage session when I discover extreme tension or deep restrictions in prime areas of the body, such as between the shoulder blades or at the base of the skull. Using Shiatsu, I'm able to help promote a more free flow of the body's energies, which in turn enhances the client's blood and lymphatic circulation to support their body's natural ability to self-heal. Shiatsu can help a wide range of conditions, from specific injuries to general symptoms of poor health. I utilize Shiatsu a lot for instant headache relief, migraine management, sinus congestion and/or stiff neck and shoulders. Just look at all the benefits it has:

Pre-Natal
& Infant Massage
![]() "Mommy & Me"
is what I call my pre-natal massage sessions, because
baby gets great benefits, too! During
pregnancy, a woman's body goes through a tremendous change and the
result can be a numer of ucomfortable conditions. Massage
during
pregnancy helps relieve many of these complaints through the positive
effects of soft tissue work ... the goal being to help reduce stress,
promote relaxation and increase blood circulation to the muscles being
massaged which in turn results in beter oxygen and nutrient
availability to the tissues.
